    Ezylock and the proprietary Tormek shaft oval locking system make heavy commercial use a breeze. I’d go insane if I had to get out spanners and Allen keys every time I had to adjust the rest height or change a wheel. Your tightening systems have made me a lot of money over the years by increasing my productivity by an incredible amount.

    The "every 2 minutes" is a great tip. A high quality hard steel knife will smooth the wheel all by itself and you'll be there for ages. Get those bevels ground as fast as possible. Then refine. Another tip is to use diamond sharpening plates to achieve the same effect. I use an 80 grit diamond plate to achieve the same grade of roughness as the rough side of the SP-650.

    Do you have any tips about even bevels? One side has a larger bevel than the other.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening 3 дні тому

      Hej davec9371, mostly, the shorter was sharpened to little. Just use more passes on the shorter side. Check also the thickness of your blade when using the older SVM-45 or SVM-140, When sharpening quite thick blades you may adjust the angel for the other side. When using the KJ-45 and KJ-140 the blade is self centred.

  • @yxcvmk

    Maybe I can get a tip here: I have the knife holder (the small one), and am sharpening 25-30cm kitchen knives in a T8. When I slide the knife left/right on the stone, then *sometimes the knife tilts, and with that I sharpen on the edge of the stone and immediately have a nick in the middle of my blade somewhere.* Sure this must be user error, I must hold the knife wrong somehow...?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening 3 дні тому

      Hej yxcvmk, when you round off the edges with the Stonegrader SP-650 the risk is minimised. Another tip is to hold the knife not cramped, just comfortable and lose, to have better the contact feeling and the feedback. Last but not least hold the blade straight and don't go to deep.

  • @davec9371
    @davec9371 14 днів тому

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening 3 дні тому

    If you are sharpening on the standard stone and set you protrusion distance on that stone. And then you change to a japanese stone with a different diameter do you adjust the protrusion distance to the japanese stone. I would be of the opinion that the angle would of course change and it requires adjustment.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening 3 дні тому

      Hej Colt3854, You need only to click the KS-123 onto the JS Waterstone and adjust the height of the Universal-Ssupport to the desired angel. When you have ground a lot of material from the blade you have the do the complete adjustment, even the step 2 - the setting of the protrusion.

  • @DamianSlade
    @DamianSlade 20 днів тому

    Is there any plan to incorporate the KS-123 and MB-102 into the HTK806 kit? and also can the KS-123 be used with the SVM-00 when using with a pocket knife (Swiss Army Knife) as the angle needed to be set for each side due to offset blade.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening 3 дні тому

      Hej DanianSlade, there are some different plans. Regarding the Swiss Army knife, you have to set both sides individually due the offset blade. Personally i adjust no specific angel due the fact the bade is all the way tapered and I don't like to have a wide bevel on that blade, it is otherwise so delicate. I aim optically for a 1/4 mm bevel on both sides. The steel is very mild to and i use 1000 grid or less, depending of the condition of the blade.

    If the Tormek could be reversed like just about every other copy on the market it wouldn’t need to be turned around to strop and there would be no need for the additional bracket.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening 3 дні тому

      When you would use a reversed motor, you would loos much more vital function which the copies not have, with the MB-102 you can sharpen edge trailing and with the RB-180 you can rotate the machine easily. At the end even cheaper as you would have otherwise with a reverse motor and keeping the other advantages. Sorry that it is not that easy just to switch to the opposite rotation.

    Why does the SVS-50 jig in this video differ so much from the diecast POS that Tormek sells? The unit in the video looks finely made with clear angle markings, but it's not at all what the actual jig looks like. I wish I could post a picture of the jig they sell to highlight the deception in this video. As for performance, what CC-gv6us said regarding the actual performance of this jig is right on the mark.

I then re-watched this video which made the procedure even more simplistic. Basically, 1. Set the protusion; 2. Set the angle. Done. You are ready to sharpen. When I use the KJ-45, the angle of the WM-200 has to be set for instance to 20 degrees. So both of the bevels are 10 degrees. Is this the same with the KS-123?

    • @davec9371
      @davec9371 12 днів тому

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening 3 дні тому

      Hej MetalMorris, it's always the true angel you want on both sides, together they give you the total angel, choosing 10 degrees (adjusted to) you get a total angel of 20 degrees - valid for WM-200 and KS-123. When using the WM-200 and you can measure on the actual bevel (when it's so wide that you can set the black moveable part on the bevel) you set to the full total angel of 20 degrees. See also the handbook. When using the KS-123 you use always the halve angel of the desired total angel.

I have a SG2000 it'd upgraded and the only thing I can't do is lift Ms water trough with a twist of a knob. I'm sorry if I sounded displeased. Thank you! We're happy you think this new accessory can be useful 😊 We are always looking to improve and develop our products further to fit the demand of our users, so we appreciate your thoughts! Our diamond wheels have a stainless steel core but when steel particles from the tool being sharpened build up they will eventually corrode. That's why we recommend using the ACC-150 Anti-Corrosion Concentrate to prevent the wheels from getting affected by said particles. If you get the KS-123 Knife Angle Setter we'd be happy to hear what you think! Stay sharp!

    Hi guys, good to see you again. This looks like a great tool for setting and I can't wait for it to be available here in the UK and I can add it to my jig collection. Well done on another world first innovation. Regards Paul.

      Thank you very much, Paul! Hope you've had the chance to get the KS-123 Knife Angle Setter already. Let us know what you think of it! Stay sharp!
